Rollins Says Ag Has Benefited From Recent Trade Deals
When it comes to trade, Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins last week pointed out that the U.S. has entered into several deals as of recent that she expects to translate into good things for American producers.
“The U.S. has inked seven new trade deals. The Philippines and South Korea for the first time opening their markets to our Ag products," Rollins said. "The EU finally, amongst other things, agreeing to address restrictive non-tariff barriers on American pork and dairy. Indonesia, removing 99% of tariffs on American exports, including for all agricultural products. And reaching the deal with the UK where we were last week, mitting some ethanol, some ethanol business that will move into effect very quickly, better access for our American beef, and a new $700 million commitment for ethanol.”
Rollins, who plans to visit Japan this week, said a recent deal with the Island Nation will also be a boon for American farmers.
“Japan agreed to increase U.S. rice imports by 75% and spend $8 billion in American agricultural products,” she noted.
