The latest USDA figures show that the Northwest continues to dry out, wrapping up the summer with very dangerous conditions.  The latest figures show all of Western Washington and extreme Eastern Washington have been declared Moderate Drought areas, or the D1 designation.  The middle portion of the Evergreen state remains Abnormally Dry.  Meanwhile in Oregon, most of the state remains Abnormally Dry, now the Northwest corner of the state, roughly 13%, is under a Moderate Drought.

Over the past week, the four drought designations expanded across the West, primarily in the Northern Rockies.  Actually, most of California and Arizona are in good water shape for this time of year.
