UI Aberdeen Celebrates Research During Twilight Tour

The University of Idaho hosted the neighboring community during their biennial Twilight Tour on the Aberdeen Research and Extension Center campus Wednesday July 15th. Chad Jackson, Operations Manager of the Center, said this family friendly event allowed the eastern Idaho community to see the great research taking place.

“We breed for potatoes, barley, wheat, oats, and we also have the Plant Materials Center with the National Resources Conservation Service," Jackson said. "And we also have the National Small Grains Collection too, a gene bank here. And then we have a lot of other different research projects that deal with diseases of small grains or diseases of potatoes and other types of agronomic research.”

The event included live music, food, booths, wagon rides as well as STEM activates for children, called a Think, Make, Create mobile makerspace.

The Twilight Tour is a biennial event, so if you missed last week’s fun, mark your calendar for July 19th, 2028.
