Families from across Oregon will file into Salem this weekend for the 29th annual Oregon Ag Fest at the state fairgrounds.  Michele Ruby, Executive Director told the Washington Ag Network this allows children of all ages to better connect with Oregon’s agricultural roots.

“We fell that it’s critical that families are exposed to life on the farm we’re all a little removed then the generation before us to where our food, clothing and horticulture comes from.”

Ruby added all learning will take place by doing.

“So, from digging from potatoes to watching chicks hatch to actually petting and interacting with farm animals, over 25 varieties this year, you get to plant things, dig for things, sample things so it’s very interactive.”

Weekend family fun includes:

  • Meet “Nosey” the cow
  • Watch a Llama Show
  • Race a Mini Pedal Tractor
  • Watch Chicks Hatch
  • See a Sheep get a Haircut
  • Listen to live Music and enjoy family entertainment
