2017 Cherry Residue Level Report Helps Exporters

The Washington State Tree Fruit Research Commission released their annual report on cherry residue levels for growers who are looking to export their cherry crops.

Horticultural Associate Tory Schmidt said the results help growers understand the complex matrix of maintaining high quality trees while being able to export their crop.

“Virtually every market that our fruit growers ship to has their own set of standards for how much of a given pesticide they will tolerate on fruit.”

Schmidt says that growers in the Northwest will be safe to sell in the U.S. with current practices, but need to be aware if they want to ship overseas.
