108th Lind Field Day A Mixture Of New Topics, Familiar Faces
The 108th Lind Field Day will take place Thursday, June 11th at Washington State University’s Lind Dryland Field Station in the central portion of the state. Station Director Surendra Singh, said this year’s installment will have a good mixture of fan favorites, such as the annual updates on winter and spring wheat breeding, as well as topics and issues specific to the 2026 crop.
“For example, there has been a lot of insect related challenges earlier this year and still going on," Singh said. "So a lot of people are spraying for it in Canola as well. So we have entomology talk by Dave Crowder, our entomologist at WSU.”
Another focus will be spraying, and how to save money in this economy without sacrificing quality or yield. And then after the tours are complete, the Field Day includes a lunch featuring a host of industry experts.
“We'll have a Crop and Soil Department Chair, Lynne Carpenter-Boggs presenting departmental updates," Singh said. "Dean Dr. Raj Khosla will be presenting the CAHNRS, College of Agriculture updates. We'll also Associate Dean of Research, Dr. Sieg Snapp, joining us. Senator Mark Schoesler will be presenting the Washington State Legislature updates, relevant to the dry land. Gil Crosby, president of WAG, Washington Association of Wheat Growers, will be presenting their updates. And Kevin Klein, commissioner for Washington Grain Commission, will be presenting Washington Grain Commission updates.”
Singh added researchers will be on hand so growers can ask questions specific to their operation. He added those interested in attending don’t need to RSVP, but show up at the Lind Station at 8:30 a.m. to register.
