YVC Offering A Host Of Wine Classes In Winter
For those looking to get into the ag industry, or those looking to expand their education, Yakima Valley College will hold a host of classes focused on the wine industry in the winter quarter. Trent Ball, chair of Yakima Valley College’s Agriculture Department and Vineyard and Winery Technology Program, said as a department they tried to make these classes a reality for those already working in industry.
“Our courses are either online or their format of hybrid, where they are partially online and have some in person time, but that in person time is in the evenings as well.”
Ball pointed out that they will have classes that meet a variety of interests.
“If you're really excited about the wine industry, and there's a lot to be excited about, the Intro to Wine is a great class," he noted. "For individuals who maybe need to get their pesticide licensing, we’ve got an Ag Safety Labor Management course that meets on Thursday evenings. And that will walk you through the pesticide exam manual. And if you're working in the industry and you need to handle the compliance, we’ve got the Winery Compliance Course.”

Winter quarter at YVC starts January 6th, but registration for these classes takes place December 30th through January 3rd. And Ball added you do not need to be a fulltime student at YVC to participate in these classes.
