WSU Releases Herbicide Comparison Tool

Growers have you even been confused by the abundance of herbicide trade names on the marketplace right now.  In an effort to help growers navigate the crowded field, Washington State University has released a Herbicide Comparison Tool.  WSU’s Drew Lyon says the tool covers wheat, canola, pulse crops and fallow.

“Basically the data base is loaded up with all of these products, and when you select either a product by its active ingredient or by its trade name, it pulls up all of the other products that have the same ingredients.”

Lyon also note the creation rate of new herbicides has slowed over the past two decades.

“So we have a lot of generics out there, and people get confused about what the active ingredients are and which ones are similar to each other and which ones aren’t.  And so, we decided that was something that could be easily worked into a decision tool.”
