The Washington State Department of Agriculture is proposing two days of spraying to kill gypsy moths in Kitsap and Pierce Counties next spring.

The total area that would be treated would be about 1,300 acres and would be done by air in April or May.

The 2018 eradication project would be the latest in the total gypsy moth eradication efforts that included a 10,000 acre treatment that took place in 2016.

European gypsy moths are now permanently established in 20 states, destroying millions of acres of trees annually and causing a host of problems for residents.

You can keep track of all the WSDA's efforts to eradicate the gypsy moth on their website.
