Like most years, 2016 was a busy season for the Northwest Rodeo Circuit.  Which meant the Washington State Department of Agriculture Animal Services Division was busy statewide.  WSDA’s David Bangart told the Washington Ag Network much of their focus this season was on preventing the transfer of diseases across state lines. Bangart said they have a great working relationship with Idaho and Oregon, as well as all of the western states.

He said during the rodeo season, they used the time to educate the riding community about new or updated laws when it comes to transporting animals, as well as animal health.  He added more often than not, their message was well received.

“The majority of people who operate in this industry what to do the right thing, and they might not know about the regulations especially when they’re traveling from state to state.  So, it’s a good opportunity for us to educate them.”

Bangart added they enjoy a good working relationship with fairgrounds, rodeos and participants across the Northwest.  To learn more about the Animal Services Division, visit WSDA's Website.
