WSDA Awarded EPA Grant for Pesticide Programs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a $574,000 grant to the Washington State Department of Agriculture for their pesticide regulatory programs in the state.

WSDA’s Joel Kangiser says they get this grant every year and a press released noted the grant helps investigation and enforcement, assures competency, provides outreach and much more.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt says they, “Are pleased to support the pesticide programs in ensuring that pesticides are used properly, agricultural workers are protected, and Washington’s diverse agricultural landscape can thrive and remain a provider of safe, healthy food.”

WSDA has authority over pesticide use in Washington and conducts inspections, enforcement, training and monitoring for pesticide use throughout the state.
