More of Washington Considered Abnormally Dry

The number of acres considered abnormally dry in Washington doubled over the week.  According to the latest USDA numbers, 18% of Washington is considered Abnormally Dry, the lowest designation.  That is much improved from last year, when the entire state was Abnormally Dry, and nearly 10% was under the Moderate Drought designation.

Figures for Oregon held over the past week, with 33% of the state Abnormally Dry.

Roughly 20% of the western U.S. is under a Severe Drought, or worse, with the worst figures coming from eastern Montana.
