After analyzing available data, the OIG found that between January 12th- June 14th, USDA lost a total of 20,306 employees, through reduction-in-force measures, the Deferred Resignations Program, and other means. That’s a loss of 18% of its total workforce of 110,384 people employed on January 11th.
When it comes to cuts state by state, Washington saw it’s USDA workforce trimmed by 18% while Oregon and Idaho both reported cuts around 16%. Rhode Island reported the most losses with a 38% reduction of its agency workforce, while Kentucky faired the best, statistically, at 12%.
