The deadline for farmers and landowners interested in applying for the current round of Agricultural Conservation Easement Program, or ACEP, focusing on Ag land easements is coming up at the end of the month.  NRCS Chief Aubrey Betancourt said the deadline is May 29th.

“Our recent announcement of an additional $200 million of funding available for ag land easements,” she said.

Betancourt stressed this round is for the Ag land easement component only, not ACEP’s wetland reserve easement program.

“Funding is provided through competitive process," Betancourt said.  "The reason releasing this additional $200 million is because our states did an early assessment for this FY and we're seeing just record application, record need for funding in this program if we're going to protect and preserve agricultural land across the landscape.”

Farmers and landowners can learn more about the program, application process and more at their local USDA Service Center or on NRCS’s Website.
