USDA Stepping Up Veteran Outreach

USDA is stepping up their outreach to veterans.

Acting Deputy Undersecretary Michael Alston said, this is crucial for USDA.

“47 percent of all veterans come from rural America and out of that 47 percent most of them will return to the farm or to rural counties in America. We want to remind them that USDA is standing ready to provide some assistance.”

There are new websites and USDA has programs that are specifically designed to take care of veterans Alston noted.

“There are programs for new and beginning farmers so this is where a returning vet, if he or she is a new or beginning farmer, there are certain incentives that are available for them.”
