The public comment process continues through May 16th on what is the first step of development for the latest series of dietary guidelines for Americans.

"With this step, what we do is the department posts public comment, the topics and questions that we would like our advisory committee to examine."

With Eve Stoody with of USDA's food and nutrition service, noting the scientific questions developed from this first round of comments will set the framework for USDA and the health and human services department to develop the latest edition of dietary guidelines covering the years 2025 through 2030.

"On Our Website, there is a list of questions that we have posted, it is essentially a starting point for people to look at and then provide us comments throughout."

The new edition of the dietary guidelines once released, will aid in further development of federal food nutrition and health policies.
