The University of Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in celebrating the state’s Agriculture Friday and Saturday.

An expert’s view of sustainable agriculture on Friday will launch this year’s celebration.  Cliff Ohmart, an integrated pest management expert who pioneered a world-renowned sustainability program for California’s Lodi Winegrape Commission, will speak at 4:30 p.m.  Ohmart recently retired from SureHarvest, a company that helps clients create sustainability programs for wine grapes, cherries, cut flowers and almonds. He will talk about agricultural sustainability, its history and its future.

High school students from across the region will attend Ag Days to sample majors offered by the college and to compete in livestock judging events.  Workshops range from aquaculture to plant cloning, cow ultrasounds and textile dyeing.

Ag Days conclude with the Vandals football game against Portland State.
