Thousands of Turkeys Die on Vermont Farm
A Vermont farm has seen about half of its 30,000-bird flock die due to what the owner says is fowl cholera.
State veterinarians tested the birds for avian influenza with the results being negative.
According to WCAX TV, owner Peter Stone believes a fox that carried the disease broke into the barns and killed some birds, but infecting others.
Vermont State Veterinarian Kristin Haas says this is the only outbreak reported in the state and that the disease is not transferrable to humans.
