TFP Looks At Ag Production
What changes occurred in global total factor production, or TFP, for agriculture over a decades time?
“During 2013 to 2022 average annual global TFP growth fell to only 0.74%,” noted Tom Thompson of Virginia Tech University. He said that number is compared to the target growth rate of 2% needed to achieve sustainable world agricultural production. Those findings from the latest Global Agricultural Production Initiative report recently issued. Virginia Tech authors the annual report.
“The most recent trends in agricultural productivity, as revealed by data from USDA's Economic Research Service and reported in the GAP report.”
South Asia leads all global regions with 1.4% total production growth, with India the leading country of that group, by increased mechanization and optimized input use.
