The Democrats’ “Green New Deal” sparked ‘hot red tempers’ on the Senate floor last week as it continues to draw public interest around the nation, with its talk of ending fossil fuel use and building all new ‘green energy’ buildings and utilities.  Farm and energy state Republicans launched a fusillade of criticism on the Senate floor against the ideas of Democratic sponsors, New York’s Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez and Massachusetts’ Ed Markey.

“The Green New Deal is wildly out of touch with Indiana’s priorities," said Indiana GOP Senator Todd Young.  "Hoosiers know a bad deal when they see one, this is a bad deal, and my fellow Hoosiers are gravely concerned that this radical proposal will cause utility bills to skyrocket.”

Democrat Ed Markey billed the GOP’s attacks “bogus” based on a concocted report by wealthy Republican donors.

“There’s no banning of airplanes, there’s no guarantee of Medicare for all, none of that is in the resolution, this entire discussion is based upon a completely fraudulent, bogus report, that the Koch brothers produced.”

Missouri Senator Roy Blunt said even using a conservative estimate of $36 trillion, that would be enough to rebuild the entire interstate highway system every year for a hundred years.  The actual estimate is $93 trillion, yet one-hundred Democrats between the House and Senate have signed on.
