As we get closer to the conclusion of sugar beet plantings, nationally 91% of the crop is in the ground.

“[That number] is  far ahead of the five-year average of 69% and slightly ahead of last year's 90%," noted USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey.  "Sugar beet planting was wrapped up during the week in Idaho and Michigan, nearing completion in Minnesota at 91%.”

Rippey added in North Dakota, 77% of the crop has been planted, which is well ahead of the five-year average of 53%.  He said this will likely be the final sugar beet planting reports for the year.
