Spring Wheat Shows Slight Gains
While it's not where it should be for this time of year, spring wheat plantings have improved somewhat recently.
"It's lagging a little bit, hasn't made up much ground,” USDA Meteorologist Brian Morris. “So, this week they're at 10% last week, they were at 3%. The five-year average is 36%, last year they were at 30%."
The most significant planting progress was made right here in the Northwest. Idaho that went from 40% to 64% planted for the week ending April 29th, which is ahead of last year, but still 10% points off the five-year average. Washington doubled it's planting from 39% to 78%, which is now 1% point of its five-year average.
