Spring Wheat Harvest Well Ahead Of Average Nationally, In The NW

The spring wheat harvest continues to pick up momentum in northern states, with 77% of the crop harvested as of Sunday, August 30th.  That is well ahead of the five-year average of 68%.

“The range of progress on spring wheat goes from about two-thirds complete, 66% in Montana," said USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey.  "That is slightly behind the five-year average of 77%, but then all the way up to almost complete in South Dakota, where 95% of the cut by August 30th.”

Here in the Northwest, 86% of Idaho’s spring wheat crop has been harvested, well ahead of the five-year average of 69%.  It’s a similar story in Washington, where 90% of the crop has been cut, well past the five-year average of 82%.
