The Northwest Center for Small Fruits Research Annual meeting takes place Tuesday and Wednesday in The Dalles, OR.  Julie Pond, Communicator for the NCSFR notes the event will focus on many research projects aimed at helping the industry as a whole.  She added the research dollars pumped into NCSFR over the past 30 years show great ROI for the region.

“For every $1 spent with Northwest Center, that over $35 comes back to the Pacific Northwest growers and the Pacific Northwest economy, which, you know, encompasses all of these crops," Pond said.  "So raspberry, blackberry, wine processing, wine grapes, viticulture, strawberry, blueberry, cranberry, the list goes on. There's a lot of other specialty crop berries that are involved in that in just in the Pacific Northwest.”

This Is An Opportunity For Growers To Have Their Voices Heard

Pond added Steve Mantle, founder of Innov8.ag, will be the keynote speaker, talking about turning Data into Dollars.

"This is an opportunity for them to not just be listening in, or thinking about, one of their crops," Pond said.  "These growers are diversified. This event is diversified. You know, while it may not have a trade show associated with it, this is a moment for them to actually look to see what federal dollars are being efficiently used to go towards work for them, that they can either adapt, or they can at least think about.”

The Annual Conference takes place Tuesday, the 18th, and Wednesday, the 19th, at the The Discovery Center in The Dalles.  Click Here to learn more or to register.
