Governor Brad Little proclaimed September as Idaho Preferred Month.  The month is dedicated to spotlighting Idaho produce and the role retailers play in connecting consumers with the “best locally grown, raised and crafted food”.

“Our Idaho Preferred Program continues to champion Idaho agricultural producers,” said Chanel Tewalt, Director of the Idaho State Department of Agriculture. “We have the honor of showing what makes Idaho agriculture exceptional and to connect producers and consumers. Idaho Preferred Month is an opportunity to highlight these important partnerships, especially with retailers who make it possible for consumers to access top-quality Idaho-grown products and support local farmers and ranchers.”

Throughout September, Idaho Preferred is partnering with several key retailers to host sampling events where the public can taste and enjoy high-quality local products.  Participating stores include Walmart, Boise Co-Op, Broulim’s, Atkinson’s, Moscow Food Co-op, Winter Ridge Natural Foods and more.

Idaho Preferred said they make it simple to find and enjoy Idaho-grown foods with the enhanced Farm + Food Finder.  The state Department of Ag says this tool locates fresh and local products at participating stores.  With the Idaho Preferred website receiving over 2.1 million unique views in 2022, it’s a trusted resource for discovering where to buy Idaho’s finest produce.

Idaho Preferred is an ISDA program that showcases the quality, diversity and availability of Idaho food and agricultural products.  Visit participating retailers and look for the Idaho Preferred logo to find local products. For more information, visit Idaho Preferred's Website.
