Two USDA appointees were in front of the Senate Ag Committee this week to talk about the future of agriculture and the importance of the USDA.

American Soybean Association CEO Steve Censky has been nominated as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture.

“I look forward to working, if confirmed, with Secretary Perdue and working with this committee to see how we can utilize the Department’s programs to provide a better safety net for our dairy producers among others.”

Also in front of the committee was Indiana Director of Agriculture Ted McKinney who has been nominated for the newly created position of Undersecretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs.

“We have got to lift up these exports and that’s why my intent is to find myself on an airplane seat and go out and build trust and continue to open markets.”

The Senate Ag Committee will hold a separate business meeting at a later date to vote on the confirmation of both Censky and McKinney.
