Many across the agriculture community are concerned about renewed interest in potentially removing the four dams along the lower Snake River.  In early February, 50 fishing companies, environmental groups asked President Trump to look at removing the four dams to help restore wild salmon runs.  Southeastern Washington Representative Joe Schmick told the Washington Ag Network he and others remain vigilant in efforts to save the Inland Northwest Water Way.

“And we’re going to do everything we can to make sure they stay where they area, we need that inland waterway.”

In addition, to transportation of grains and other ag products to Portland and on to the rest of the world, supporters of the dams say they provide the region was relatively cheap electricity while providing flood control.  Schmick said state lawmakers are continually in contact with congressional reps to ensure saving Ice Harbor, Lower Granite, Little Goose and Lower Monumental dams remains a priority.
