Earlier this week, Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue said he is optimistic a trade deal with China can be agreed upon.  Especially after a Chinese envoy met with President Trump at the White House.

"I believe that we're gonna see these two leaders I'm hopeful and I believe we're gonna see these two leaders of China and the United States, President Trump and President Xi, come together soon in order to resolve the real structural issues over enforceability."

Perdue noted there are many agricultural opportunities.

"They put a lot of things on the line, they want to buy and they've talked about a lot of things including uh beef and pork and rice and soybeans and corn and other things."

U.S. and Chinese officials have been working around the clock to settle differences.  The two meet in Beijing this week.  The two sides are working against a March 1st deadline to reach a deal.
