The USDA has released their latest look at the 2017 peach crop and they are forecasting a decline in production for the eighth consecutive year.

USDA Economist Agnes Perez projects a drop of nearly 1.5 billion pounds.

“This year’s crop will be the smallest since the 1980s.”

The largest producer of peaches, California, is expecting a small bump to their production this year of about two percent, but the next two states, Georgia and South Carolina could see production fall off between 75-80 percent due to weather challenges.
