Packaging Materials Very Important During Holiday Season

With the spirit of giving prevalent this and every holiday season, whatever your celebration, your gifts likely have the added touch of wrapping paper, or even shipping containers made of corrugated cardboard so they can be sent to loved ones.  It's something of which Maryann Hanson of the paper and packaging board reminds consumers.

"There is so much promotion around packaging and shipping in those holiday months, that we really spend our time reminding people how they can recycle the box when they're done, or reuse it, and the sustainability of the packaging."

This checkoff board of the paper and packaging processing industry is designed to tell the story about this renewable and sustainable resource stemming from trees grown and harvested by producers.

"Trees are a renewable resource, it's a crop, just like many of the other agricultural products. Now our crop takes a little bit longer to grow, but it's grown for the purpose of making paper-based products, and it's replenished, it's replanted."
