Oregon Brass Traveling to Japan to Promote Ag

Oregon Governor Kate Brown and Agriculture Director Alexis Taylor are in Japan this week promoting Oregon agriculture to the state’s top export market.

Taylor said the trade mission can help solidify relationships that lead to sales.

“When you look at the numbers, over $1.5 billion of agricultural goods from Oregon are going to Japan every year. That’s an amazing number. Think about how many jobs that’s stimulating in our economy across the state, how much additional economic value that’s bringing.”

ODA trade experts will also go along on the trip to help the food and agriculture companies.

Taylor said it’s important that people with clout make these kinds of trips.

“Having people like the Governor, like myself, go there, make the trip, make the investment in that relationship is really invaluable. It can open doors to meetings these businesses would not get otherwise, but it’s really cementing that long term relationship we’ve had for decades with Japan.”

The trip will last from October 9^th through the 15^th.
