Food service supplier U.S. Foods has issued a recall for onions from the Colorado Springs, CO-based Taylor Farms due to possible E. coli contamination.  The move comes after an outbreak of E. coli that has sickened dozens of people and is blamed for the death of at least one person across the United States.

According to health officials, the outbreak has been linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounders.  While the exact source is unknown at this time, he focus has been on slivered onions and the beef patties specifically used by the chain for those burgers.

McDonald's says they have stopped serving the burgers.  A letter issued this week, U.S. Foods urged customers to immediately stop using the onions in question.
