Oil Prices Continue To Drop, But Rate Slows

It’s been a common theme this fall, falling oil prices. However, what’s new this week, is the fact that the rate those prices are falling have slowed. Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com said this time last week, before OPEC’s meeting to discuss production, many expected oil prices to jump higher. But that did not happen.

“OPEC’s decision to cut oil production was by a smaller then expected amount. And that’ why prices [Monday] morning were down by over a dollar a barrel, some had anticipated there would be a bigger cut that OPEC was going to announce, but they didn’t do so, so the future for oil prices look a little bit ominous.”

Nationally, the average for a gallon of diesel dropped four cents down to $3.11, Washington’s average slipped five cents to $3.43, while the price of diesel in Oregon also dropped a nickel to $3.28.
