The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has confirmed another wolf depredation in Wallowa County.  On the afternoon of September 11th, a livestock producer came up on a dead 7-month old calf, weighing roughly 600 pounds, on U.S. Forest Service property.

Upon examining the carcass the next day, ODFW noticed much of the hind legs had been eaten, as were many of the internal organs.  The rest of the carcass was skinned and examined to reveal numerous canine tooth scrapes and marking.  Investigators determined the calf was killed early on the morning of September 11th.

ODFW believes a wolf from the Harl Butte Pack is responsible for last week’s kill.
