Oregon’s Department of Fish and Wildlife has released more details about two bears found shot to death in trees near Talent. The animals were discovered in late October. Investigators worked with Jackson County firefighters to remove a female bear after it was found with an arrow in its chest, around 40 feet up in the tree. One fire captain said he’d never seen anything like it, adding the bear had been shot multiple times by both arrows and bullets. A second bear was not removed because of the level of decomposition.

Oregon State Police continues their investigation.
