Oregon Cattle Convention “A Jammed Packed Couple Of Days”
The Oregon Cattlemen’s Association and Oregon Cattlewomen 2025 Annual Convention takes place December 4th-6th at the Pendleton Convention Center. OCA President Matt McElligott noted those 2 ½ days will be packed with great information and educational workshops for operations of any size.
“From estate planning to changes in the income tax law. It's been affected by the One Big, Beautiful Bill that was passed in July," McElligott said. "Virtual fencing seminars by ranchers who are actually using it, the pros and cons of virtual fencing. Oregon water rights. We'll have a young cattlemen's program that we're kicking off for young cattlemen to be involved with. We also have speakers throughout the days from a CattleFax analyst that will give us heads up on what's happening in the market and why it's happening the way it is right now.”
McElligott added while participants will spend quite a bit of time in the classroom, there will be hands-on demonstrations, many of which will take place at Blue Mountain Community College’s Equine Center which opened its doors in late April.
"We are going to use that for hands-on workshops from beef quality assurance certification to proper vaccine handling, safe cattle working and transporting and we'll have some equipment there to showcase and we'll actually run some cattle through and give you an idea on how this stuff is working and what's new in the marketplace.”
