The Oregon Cattlemen’s Association will hold their annual convention in Bend November 29th and 30th.  OCA Executive Director Jerome Rosa says this year’s lineup will focus primarily on education and outreach.  He said they will have guest speakers including Travis Williams with the U.S. Interior Department, as well as Colin Woodall from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.  Rosa said they will also have an in depth conversation about Country of Origin Labeling.  He noted COOL is a polarizing topic of discussion among cattle producers in the Northwest, but nationwide.

“Ranchers on a whole, normally don’t want more government intervention, and when it comes to the COOL issue, with the mandatory labeling, many ranchers are supportive of the mandatory labeling which is in contrast to our normal position, but a lot of that roots to the issue of truth in labeling.”

Rosa said the Convention will also be a great opportunity to ensure local issues have a voice in Salem or Washington D.C.  To register, visit the OCA's Website.
