
NW Wheat Stocks In Storage Down 3% Year-Over-Year
According to NASS, as of March 1st, the total wheat stocks in Oregon totaled 27.9 million bushels, up from 25 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 18% percent, while on-farm stocks were down 17% compared to the previous year. In Idaho, wheat stocks totaled 45.5 million bushels, up from 44.4 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 5%, while on-farm stocks were up 16% compared to the previous year. In Washington, wheat stored in all positions totaled 73.7 million bushels, down from 82.5 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 15%, while on-farm stocks were up 82% compared to 2024.
Nationally, wheat stored in all positions totaled 1.24 billion bushels, up from 1.09 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 14%, while on-farm stocks were up 13% compared to a year earlier.
Idaho's barley stocks totaled 29.1 million bushels as of March 1st, up from 27 million bushels March 1st 2024. Off-farm stocks were up 20%, while on-farm stocks were down 8% compared to the previous year. In Oregon, barley stored in all positions totaled 649,000 bushels, down from 746,000 bushels in 2024. Off-farm stocks were up 1%, while on-farm stocks were down 40% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile in Washington, barley stored in all positions totaled 3.34 million bushels, down from 3.7 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 15%, while on-farm stocks were up 15% compared to the previous year.
Nationally, barley stored in all positions totaled 103 million bushels, down from 112 million bushels from a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 4%, while on-farm stocks were down 20% compared to the previous year.
When it comes to oats stored, as of March 1st, 2025 131,000 bushels were stored in off-farm locations in Idaho, up from 109,000 bushels a year ago. In Oregon, oats stored in off-farm locations 182,000 bushels, down from 205,000 bushels a year ago. In Washington, oats stored in all positions totaled 43,000 bushels to start last month, down from 87,000 bushels a year ago.
Nationally, oats stored in all positions totaled 41.4 million bushels, down from 51.4 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were 24.5 million bushels, down 30% from the previous year, while on-farm stocks were 16.9 million, up 4% compared to the previous year.
Corn stored in off-farm locations on March 1, 2025 totaled 7.32 million bushels in Idaho, up 59% from 2024. In Oregon, corn stored in off-farm locations totaled 959,000 bushels, down 12% from a year ago. In Washington, corn stored in off-farm locations totaled 8.68 million bushels, up 13% from a year ago.
Nationally, corn stored in all positions totaled 8.15 billion bushels, down from 8.35 billion bushels from a year ago. Off-farm stocks were 3.65 billion, up 12% from a year ago, while on-farm stocks were 4.50 billion, down 11 percent compared to the previous year.
