According to NASS, all wheat stocks stored across the Northwest increased 5% from December 2023 to December 2024.

 

In Washington, wheat stored in all positions last month totaled 132 million bushels, up from 123 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 6%, while on-farm stocks were up 18% compared to the previous year.

 

In Idaho, all wheat stored as of December 1st totaled 57.9 million bushels, down from 60.1 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were down 26%, while on-farm stocks were up 39% compared to the previous year.

 

In Oregon, wheat in storage totaled 36.3 million bushels, up from 33.1 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 10%, while on-farm stocks were up 10% compared to the previous year.

Nationally, wheat stored in all positions totaled 1.57 billion bushels, up from 1.42 billion bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were up 8 percent, while on-farm stocks were up 16 percent compared to the previous year.

 

When it comes to other Northwest crops:

 

Barley stocks in all positions on December 1st totaled 34.2 million bushels in Idaho, up from 32.5 million bushels a year ago.  Off-farm stocks were up 14%, while on-farm stocks were down 3% compared to the previous year.

 

In Oregon, barley stored in all positions totaled 1.19 million bushels, up from 872,000 bushels a year ago.  Off-farm stocks were up 40%, while on-farm stocks were up 30% compared to the previous year.

 

In Washington, barley stored in all positions totaled 4.54 million bushels, down from 4.73 million a year ago.  Off-farm stocks were up 1%, while on-farm stocks were down 22% compared to the previous year.

 

Nationally, barley stored in all positions totaled 117 million bushels, down from 142 million bushels from a year ago.  Off-farm stocks were down 9%, while on-farm stocks were down 23% compared to the previous year. 

 

 

Oats stored in off-farm locations on December 1st totaled 102,000 bushels in Idaho, down from 107,000 bushels a year ago.  In Oregon, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 191,000 bushels, down from 304,000 bushels a year ago.  In Washington, oats stored in off-farm locations totaled 75,000 bushels, up from 73,000 bushels a year ago.

 

Nationally, oats stored in all positions totaled 51.6 million bushels, down from 62.2 million bushels a year ago. Off-farm stocks were 26.7 million bushels, down 30 percent from the previous year, while on-farm stocks were 24.9 million bushels, up 3 percent compared to the previous year.

 

Corn stored in off-farm locations on December 1st totaled 9.44 million bushels in Idaho, up 35% from a year ago.  In Washington, corn stored in off-farm locations totaled 12.5 million bushels, up 64 percent from a year ago.

 

Nationally, corn stored in all positions totaled 12.1 billion bushels, down slightly from a year ago. Off-farm stocks were 4.41 billion bushels, up 2%, while on-farm stocks were 7.66 billion bushels, down 2% compared to the previous year.
