Northwest Showers Welcomed Rippey Notes
While it may not be record amounts, the Northwest has enjoyed some on-again-off-again rain showers for the past couple of weeks, along with cooler temperatures. For many, this has been a welcomed change from the warmer than normal and dryer than normal weather we saw earlier this spring.
“We are welcoming that moisture," noted USDA meteorologist Brad Rippy. "It is forestalling concerns about wildfires, about running out of water, and it keeps irrigation demands down while the moisture continues to fall. It also keeps rangeland and pastures in reasonably good shape going into the early part of the summer. So, we are benefiting largely from this moisture in the West.”
While the rain is welcomed news for much of the region, hopefully we’ll see those showers taper off, especially for areas that have already started cherry harvest.
