Despite some spring rains, Oregon stream flows are expected to be far below normal this summer.

 

"Probably 67 of 73 of our sites that we do forecasts for [are] in the 15th percentile or lower," said NRCS' Jason Ward.

 

And this is all with the first day of summer is still over a week away.  Summer officialy starts June 21st.  Ward blames the historically low snowpack  He said east of the Cascades continues to dry out quickly, while other areas are slightly better.

 

:The northern Cascades, the Mt Hood area is fairing better than still a lot of the state, overall," Ward said.  

 

Ward says it’s a call for Oregonians to conserve water resources, especially as we head into fire season.
