Oregon Streams Remain Very Low As Spring Starts To Wrap Up
Despite some spring rains, Oregon stream flows are expected to be far below normal this summer.
"Probably 67 of 73 of our sites that we do forecasts for [are] in the 15th percentile or lower," said NRCS' Jason Ward.
And this is all with the first day of summer is still over a week away. Summer officialy starts June 21st. Ward blames the historically low snowpack He said east of the Cascades continues to dry out quickly, while other areas are slightly better.
:The northern Cascades, the Mt Hood area is fairing better than still a lot of the state, overall," Ward said.
Ward says it’s a call for Oregonians to conserve water resources, especially as we head into fire season.
