It really should come as no surprise we saw some net drying nationwide when it comes to pasture conditions. Taking a look at the latest numbers, 49% of the pasture and rangeland nationwide is rated good to excellent, that's down two points in the past week. Meanwhile, those fields rated very poor to poor increased to 19% across the U.S.

"Obviously, some of the driest most browned out rangelands and pastures are in the west and the south. California at this point, leads that area 50% rated very poor to poor.," USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noted. "Other states reporting anywhere from a quarter to a half rated very poor to poor on June 7th."

Other states reporting very dry conditions include Oregon, Colorado and New Mexico.

On the flip side, a large number of states are still reporting pastureland at least 70% good to excellent.
