NASS is prepping multiple surveys for release at the end of June.  Some of most anticipated reports are results of surveys taking place now, according to Joe Parsons, chair of the NASS Agricultural Statistics Board.  Parsons said June is a busy month.

“When it’s busy on the farm, we’re busy collecting and publishing data in service to U.S. agriculture.  June is some of our busiest times and starting right now we’re asking almost 100,000 producers to compete any one of surveys we have on major crops and stock survives.”

Parsons said NASS will also ask producers about land use, biotech crops and acreage.  He added they will also ask farmers and storage facilities to find out about how much grain is stored for a separate report.  Parsons said it’s important for producers to respond to the USDA NASS surveys.

“We ask producers to respond to these surveys because the information comes together to provide invaluable, independent first estimates of U.S. crop production, or crop acreage, and updates on the grain supplies back from from March.  So, these are aggregated numbers that originate from farmers and ranchers.”

Parsons added that any information shared with USDA NASS is secure.  Learn more about USDA NASS surveys and find results, visit NASS' Website.
