
NASS: NW Potato Stocks Hit 134 CWT To Start February
According to the latest numbers from NASS, potato stocks in Washington as of February 1st totaled 46 million cwt. Disappearance to date totaled 55.3 million cwt. In Idaho February 1st stocked totaled 73 million cwt. Disappearance of the Idaho crop to date was 62.2 million cwt. And potato stocks in Oregon totaled 14.5 million cwt to start the month. Disappearance to date was 12.4 million cwt. Nationally, potatoes held in storage on February 1st totaled 208 million cwt, down 4% year-over-year. Potatoes in storage accounted for 49% of the 2024 production, the same as a year earlier. The indicated season to date disappearance, at 212 million cwt, was down 5 percent from the same period last year.
On the processing side, processors in Idaho used 38.9 million cwt of potatoes for the season, down slightly from the previous year. In Oregon, 17.8 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, down 12% from the previous year. In Washington, 32.8 million cwt of potatoes had been used by processors for the season, down 5% year-over-year. Processors in the Eight states used 110 million cwt of potatoes for the season, down 4% from February 2024.
