Ag Undersecretary Ted McKinney is back from Japan, where he discussed ag trade issues with Japanese leaders and met with Japanese buyers at a large regional food show.  During the show, he said there are reports where in his words "real business was concluded."

"What they say about it being the most significant food show in that region, at least as I viewed it is absolutely true.”

He also met with Japan's Ag minister and other top government leaders in Tokyo.

"The Friday meetings one-on-one were primarily to get to know, there were no negotiations, that would be the primary responsibility of the U-S Trade Reps office.”

American agricultural exports to Japan totaled nearly 12 billion dollars in 2017, making it the fourth largest market for U-S Ag exports.
