Luff: Help Your Potato Crop Start The Season Off Right
Ask any potato grower, and they’ll tell you that the first 75 days of a potato’s life are extremely important and play a huge role in yields. Kelly Luff with Bayer Crop Protection Technology Development says managing disease and pest during those first weeks will help as the season progresses.
“We have an expansive portfolio that fits in that 75 day segment or crop production. So, it starts off with a seed treatment Emesto Silver that we have in the market. We also have an in-furrow or seed applied insecticide Admire, and then we can put in Velum Prime In-furrow which is really a pretty exciting molecule. It has both nomasidal activity and fungicide activity. So, by putting that in-furrow you can manage nematodes, you also get early season and Early Blight and White Mold control as well.”
Luff stressed it’s never too early to think about getting a good start to the potato crop.
