The Next Generation Tree Fruit Network will hold a field visit Wednesday focused on irrigation.  McDougall and Sons will host the event and showcase their new irrigation system, which includes automated valves as well as a phone/computer friendly platform to view information from multiple soil moisture monitoring stations.

WSU’s Dr. Lee Kalscits will demonstrate multiple sensors and discuss how it could help growers combat bitter pit in Honneycrip.

"They've been looking to see if they can reduce the amount of water they are putting on at key timing and give those tress just a little bit of stress if that will keep the fruit size down and also keep the bitter pit down," said Washington State University's Tianna Dupont.

Wednesday’s event runs from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Desert Sag Orchard on Brays Landing Rd. NW in Orondo.  To RSVP for Wednesday’s evening, Click Here.
