On Wednesday, the Idaho House of Representatives’ State Affairs Committee unanimously awarded a bill number to legislation that would invite Oregon to being talks about relocating the state line.  The Greater Idaho Movement looks to incorporate portions of eastern and central Oregon into the Gem State.  House Joint Memorial 1 states Idaho is ready to discuss potentially relocating the border with lawmakers in Salem.  Idaho’s House State Affairs Committee agreed to hold a hearing on the bill February 13th.

 

The bill introduced Wednesday is similar to a bill introduced by Oregon state senator Dennis Linthicum during that state’s legislative session.  The proposed relocation would increase Idaho’s territory by 74% while increasing the state’s population by 21% according to the Greater Idaho Website.
