Hot Dry Weather Post 4th of July

With 4^th of July behind us, the Northwest prepares for the hottest portion of the summer.  And this year won’t disappoint.  Dennis Hull with the National Weather Service said we’ll see temperatures climbing near or above 100 degree over the next couple of days.  He said that brings the potential for big problem for crops and workers.

“Triple digits you’ve got potential for anyone working outdoors in the sun during the afternoon, livestock of course and crops, such as potatoes peas apples are going to have some heat stress.”

Hull said as we look at the coming months, we can expect an El Nino neutral pattern, which means neither El Nino nor La Nina will direct Northwest weather.

“You know, it’s kind of a mix of both especially when we get to the wintertime.  So, I wouldn’t expect much in the way of extreme conditions when we get to the fall and the winter at this time, but the rest of the summer looks like it’s going to be, at least for July, kind of on the dry side for many areas. Not much perception going through the Pacific Northwest.”
