During the week ending Friday 08/28/26, 1,400 head of cattle were traded in the Washington Sale Barn, and when compared to a week earlier stocker steers were steady when in a light test, while stocker heifers were firm to $3 higher and feeder cattle were higher anywhere $1-$8. 

 

“Feeder cattle futures were $3.10-$3.97 higher on the session, with August expiring up $1 at $3.3375," noted Greg Sanders with USDA's Livestock, Grain and Poultry Market News in Moses Lake WA.  "The CME feeder cattle index was down another $0.80 on August 26 at $3.3347. Dairy slaughter cows were mixed, boners $5-9 lower, and lean cattle were firm. Beef type cows were steady. Feeder steers medium large frame 1 and 2, 600-650 pounds sold for $372. Feeder heifers medium large frame 1 and 2, 600-650 pounds sold from $318 and 650-700 pounds sold from $307.50.  Slaughter cows on the boning utility sold from $151 to $159. Slaughter bulls sold from $206 to $222.50.”
